Here is a link to a great website to use with elementary age students in the library and/or the lab!

Where has the time gone?

Five short months ago I entered the Library Science masters program at ETSU. At the time I questioned my insanity due to my age and I felt like it was going to take me forever to get my certification. Now, I find myself sitting here reflecting on my first semester, registered for five more classes this summer and fall, and a clear vision of being finished next spring! I have learned so much this semester. Titles of technology have become realistic programs. I have went from being afraid of a Web 2.0 to finding myself planning for next school year with visions of my elementary students thriving in the lab, eager to be taught the technology that I have learned this spring. Mostly though,  I have learned that a dream is a dream regardless of age and dreams are meant to be pursued.

What's New in Children's Literature...

Today was an awesome day! I had the privilege of attending a workshop led by Judy Freeman, Librarian Extraordinaire and well known teacher and library media specialist. The workshop was highly invigorating as I came away with ideas and motivational techniques to take me into the next school year! I can't wait to stock up my private supply of children's books! Judy is known to help strengthen reading and library programs across the US. I can see why! If you aren't following her on Facebook I highly recommend that you do so. You can find her on Facebook by typing in Judy Freeman's Workshops. Click "like" and you will be on your way to some up to date news in children's literature and lots of fun. To learn more about her and her recommendations for books that might (will) fit into your curriculum, check out her personal website http://www.judyreadsbooks.com/

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am a veteran public educator who has decided to pursue her dream of a Master's Degree. Crazy? Nah, just adds more excitement to my already insanely busy schedule! I'm creating this blog as an assignment for one of my online classes but truthfully I would love to see my students get involved and post on here!
I am married to a very patient man of 18+ years who shares my vision and accepts my fly by the moment ideas. We are blessed with a wonderful 16 year old son who hopes and prays his momma finishes school before he begins his college career! I love spending time and traveling with family, watching our son play baseball, a good book is a must in my life, my blood runs orange (even through the dreary years), and I'm addicted to just about any social media on the market.
